Weddington is no stranger to State Championships and playing in Big Stadiums. Hoggard will have a high mountain to climb as they go through Championship week and head to Carter-Finley on Saturday night. It can be a grueling long wait and anticipation to walk out under those lights. Hopefully the Coaches have a plan for the entire week, and every moment on Friday and Saturday. Good Luck.

Yes, Weddington is big and strong! Their 2 interior D lineman are legit!

Weddington is just like Hoggard in that they are extremely physical in the trenches. They will have the size to match. It should be a fun game. Go Hoggard!

Before the game I posted how similar the numbers were between these two teams. What stuck out to me was the turnovers. Good coaches always preach turnovers and try to put players in positions to create them but it is still hard to do. Some teams seem to be good at it and take advantage and some teams just simply aren’t good at it. Hoggard had 22 Int heading into this game. They added two more and almost 3 as 1 int was called off after a late hit on the QB. Hoggard defense has made plays all year and that will need to continue next week.

Enjoy it! Hope you all win. Will be pulling for you guys. Really impressed with the adjustments you guys made last night. Some of the turnovers we had weee self induced however you guys really did a good job getting after 12. 13 for Hoggard was getting picked on early. They did it multiple times in the first series. I don’t think I saw 13 again, at least not man on Chet #14. Really good program and coaching staff. You all were the better team last night. Go win it.

As for the field, it did rain off and on all day and it was slicker than usual. The field has some bad spots for sure. Hoggards soccer and lacrosse teams usually go deep into the playoffs as well as the football team had 11 home games this year. A lot of wear and tear and some areas go away. The field is usually is great condition. NH county will be putting in new turf fields starting next season at Ashley, then the next year at Laney followed by the next season at Hoggard.

What a game! Hoggard has improved every week and they put it all together again last night. I appreciate all the kind words on this post. CG has a great fan base and they were nothing but respectful last night after the game. CG has a fine team and they as so well coached. Their schemes are impressive. CG ran for -14 yard s and threw the ball 46 times. They had a lot of yards thru the air but Hoggard was able to simply come full force after the QB and was able to turn him over and make him uncomfortable. You could see that 12 was a bit rattled in the 2nd qrt. I thought 8 looked good. The place was rocking and CG traveled well. Hoggard is graduating 39 players and and all their starters but 4. There will be a drop off next year but this team will be in the mix. Hoping for 1 more well played game against a great team in Raleigh Saturday night. Go Vikes.

That is without a doubt the loudest non-WF game I have ever been to. I love it when a crowd goes nuts, but when Hoggard scored the TD to make it 41-7 I actually had to cover my ears so they wouldn't ring so much. Congrats to CG on a great season. They will certainly be one of the top dogs in the East for at least the next two years. But for now, congrats to Hoggard, and go make the East proud next Saturday night. I'll be there (and burn a lot less gas this time lol)

Laney did the ole sprinkler trick on us back in 2012. No rain the entire week, boys get off the bus and are slipping all over the field in puddles.

What a season! No excuses here. Congrats to Hoggard for a great game. A fine representative of the East. Hoggard dominated this game from start to finish. So proud of our team. Great season. Have a lot of kids returning next year so looking forward to the future. It is bright. Go win the title, Hoggard! Represent the East!
Ps please get someone to come fix that field, it was a mess.

I’ve never in all my life seen one as bad as Laney’s, it’s probably the worst in the state, must be a coast thing. Laney looked like the prison field the Mean Machine practiced on 🤷‍♂️😂

Not really. Hoggard has picked us off 3 times. It would have been 4. We have had two blocked punts. Hoggard has had the ball the majority of the half on CG’s side of the field. It was 14-7 and CG stopped Hoggard where they were setting up to punt. We jump offsides. 14 was torching their corner and they made an adjustment so credit to them. Sometimes in football, it’s just one of those nights. Coach wright just had a long time with his staff. A good leader. In addition, the conditions of this field are not good. That goes both ways. Hoggard and CG’s receivers are slipping all over the place. There are really bad spots around the 35 yards line and around the 10 of both end zones.

Nice post. And not just because you picked CG. The first series or two will determine how the game is played. My only request is that officials call it both ways. Last week there was some really bad calls, on both sides. Both fumbles, one rolesville and the other CG were clearly mistakes made by the officials. The last fumble should not have been a fumble on rolesville either. They got it wrong and it ended up costing Rolesville a chance to tie the game
