— Orange High School linebacker Payton Wilson is now committed to N.C. State.

Wilson made his commitment to the Wolfpack on Friday in the form of a tweet, one day after N.C. State coach Dave Doeren made an in-home visit to the senior and just hours after Dave Doeren signed a new contract to stay with the Wolfpack through 2022.

Last month, Wilson decommitted from North Carolina, reopening his recruiting process. He took an official visit to N.C. State on Nov. 4 and was at the Wolfpack's regular season finale against UNC.

Moments after Wilson tweeted his commitment, Doeren sent out a tweet of his own: "Red Light Special!!! It burning hot and just came on in Raleigh!!!"

According to 247Sports.com, Wilson is a four-star prospect. He stands at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds.

Wilson, who is recovering from surgery after tearing his ACL last month, finished his senior season with 103 tackles, including 21 tackles for a loss and 10 sacks. He also posted one interception and one fumble recovery.

On the offensive side of the ball, Wilson compiled 754 all-purpose yards – 222 rushing yards, 263 receiving yards and 244 yards on special teams.

Wilson was selected to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, but will not be able to play due to his injury. In November, he was named one of 16 nominees for the U.S. Army Player of the Year Award. Wilson was also selected to the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
