I need advice for myself and parent friends. I heard negative things about our Volleyball Coach before my daughter entered high school...reliable sources saying that their daughters' refused to play volleyball their Senior year due to this coach (she was new then, and this is her 4-5th year coaching, not a teacher). The news was that she played her favorites and no one else mattered, or played much. I took it with a grain of salt.

My daughter played Freshman first string last year. She was the tallest on the team, at 5'9', you can see how short the rest of the team was. One of the Freshmen was put on JV, then moved to Varsity. Granted she's good, but not super good, so just one girl moved. My daughter plays in the same club on a State team as this girl, and with 2 of her freshman teammates.

My daughter tried out this year with surgeries/injuries...she was cut, and my gripe was more about how her injuries were ignored and how/what she was told. The Fr to Varsity girl has a torn ACL and is out for the season...she is the Varsity manager.

That's not the worst of it. The coach told 7 of the JV players that she was keeping one spot open on the Varsity team...that's a lot of crying. Then, two Juniors put on the JV team quit. Coach used a freshman and JV player for a Varsity tourney (gosh, not enough Varsity players). Then, put the freshman on the Varsity team, upsetting the JV player. Oops, there went that JV to Varsity spot...7 more upset young ladies.

Okay, now comes the kicker. One day last week, coach told all the girls to bring their jerseys back in and had a 2nd tryout: dropped 2 Varsity players to JV and moved one JV player to Varsity. One of the dropped varsity players quit already (just didn't show up to the tourney). More upset feelings all around.

Oh, did I mention that her very own Freshman daughter is on the Varsity team?

The teams haven't won much with her as coach. Have spoken with AD. Concerned about next year for my daughter. Advice?
